Sugarfree Films
Although he co-produced 'Full Circle', Simon Kay is primarily a songwriter (composer). He started his musical career playing keyboards with 'Ultramarine' (Warner Bros). They recorded and toured through the early nineties, working with artists such as Bjork, Orbital, Depeche Mode and The Orb.

Having realised most of his ambitions regarding live playing, he then went back to his first love of songwriting. This led him into film production via the unusual route of audio editing, working first with his father, Norman Kay on 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' and then with the composer Deborah Mollison on 'Earth Story' for the BBC and the feature films 'East is East' and 'Simon Magus'. He then went on to write the theme song and incidental music for the film 'Une Journée Tranquille' (A Quiet Day).

Following the international success of the film, Simon and Michæl Jaffer co-founded Sugarfree Films Ltd in 2003 where they both remain Co-Directors. Simon co-produced the feature film 'Full Circle' and is developing the next Sugarfree Films Production, 'Rocky Road'.

Songwriting has always been a major part of his working life and some of his latest songs, co-written with Tricia Walsh-Smith, can be heard on the new series "Pineapple Dance Studios" currently on Sky 1 in the UK.
